A lazy Saturday afternoon yielded us yet another really cool adventure in Rowan County, North Carolina. At the Lazy 5 Ranch we were able to get up close and personal with animals from 6 different continents. There was a walk-thru “petting” area where we were entertained by the endangered Ring-tailed Lemurs, koi, a multitude of bird varieties, a couple of porcupines, and some giant bunnies |
The neatest part of the adventure was a 3.5 mile safari where wild animals just walked right up to your vehicle. They also offered an option of riding a horse-drawn wagon but we opted to drive through and photograph the animals by hanging out of the sunroof. |
The Lazy 5 Ranch is owned and operated by Mr. Henry Hampton and is located at 15100 Mooresville Road, Mooresville, NC 28115. You can visit their website for more information by clicking here. |

Almost all of these images were captured by a Nikon D60 with a Sigma 70-300 lens, hand-held, on Auto. Things were moving just a little too fast to be fiddling around with manual exposures. For more information you can click the image and view the photo properties on my Flickr Photo Stream. |
